To improve the way we care for elders in Lincoln County by providing quality assisted living for elders of all incomes. Elder Care Network was established in 1996 to improve the way we care for elders in Lincoln County by developing a model of small, family-style, wellness-focused, community-centered assisted living homes for rural Maine communities.
Although there were several private facilities available in the county, those elders with limited income were forced to leave their home communities to find an assisted living home. The founders developed a model that emphasized small, family-style groups, a focus on independence and self-management and care and assistance with daily living as needed.
Between 1998 and 2010, we opened 6 smaller village care homes in Boothbay, Edgecomb, Jefferson, Round Pond, Waldoboro, and Wiscasset. Eldercare Network's homes are the only assisted living facilities in the area that accept those who qualify for MaineCare - and private-pay rates are well below those of local private facilities.

Older people should stay in their own home as long as they want, and can do so with the aid and support of family members, home health care personnel and other community services.

We specialize in meeting the individual needs of residents who require assistance with activities of daily living but do not need the skilled services of medically focused facilities.
Our caregivers have the time to get to know the residents and offer them just the right amount of assistance with personal care, medication, bathing and dressing.
Each resident has a private bedroom (or studio apartment) and a private or shared bathroom with safety devices.
All homes are accessible by ramps for exit and access.

This rate covers all expenses, including rental of the room, all utilities (except telephone and cable television in some homes), 3 meals and snacks, all personal care services, laundry and housekeeping, and transportation to planned group activities.
Residents at Hodgdon Green pay an additional 6% State Sales Tax.
Many elders in our communities are eligible for MaineCare reimbursement for their care.
In their cases, the state Department of Health and Human Services determines the amount to be paid based on the individual's income.
