Symphony has been a family-owned, family-centered business since it got its start in 1978.
In the 40 years since then, we've grown to more than 28 locations and have pioneered innovative new concepts in the senior care field.

The Symphony story began in 1978 when Bob Hartman, an employee of Sheridan Gardens (now Symphony of Bronzeville), purchased the Chicago building when he was just 22 years old.
His goal since the beginning?
To provide quality care.
Over the course of the next several years, Hartman acquired a number of other buildings as skilled nursing centers.
With the idea that technology and innovation had a place in healthcare, Symphony began shifting the traditional notion of senior care, turning assisted living centers with nursing home components into nursing homes with assisted living spaces attached.
His goal since the beginning?
To provide quality care.
